Chimiver White Wash Additive I Why Use It
Saving the planet is on most people’s agenda and reusing, reclaiming and repairing are the main words within most households in the developed world. More and more people are reconsidering getting rid of perfectly good wooden floors just to replace them with artificially looking laminate floors or plastic floors. But most people that have started DIY floor sanding and floor rejuvenating projects have ended up not knowing how to get rid of the unsightly yellow colour that some old wood has achieved after being covered with carpets for the last 100 years. While the new water based floor lacquers have sorted some of the problem out by not making the floor any yellower than they are already, the floors are still pretty yellow after it has fully dried. Up to now there were a few solutions available but while some worked well, were highly expensive or too hard to apply. Some brands of wood care products sell white floor oils or white wood stains. Assuming that the floors are sanded to perfection and that you are happy to use a two pack floor lacquer, that’s the way for you. Other brands of wood care products, including Chimiver, sell white primers. But that is the expensive way. To apply 3 coats of white primer plus 2 coats of floor lacquer, it will cost a lot. Or, buy 5 L of Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Floor Lacquer and add 1 bottle of Chimiver White Wash Additive and there you are. Problem sorted. An easy and inexpensive remedy.
Chimiver White Wash Additive I Where To Use
The mixture can be used pretty much like any water based floor lacquer. It can be used to seal and protect most types of unsealed hardwood floors, furniture, wall panels, ceiling panels, toys and other types of real wood items. The product can also be used to overcoat pre-existing finishes assuming that the surface is dust free, deep cleaned and slightly sanded with some fine grit sanding paper to create a bit of roughness. The new Chimiver White Wash Additive cannot be used on its own and it has to be added to the amazing Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Floor Lacquer.
Chimiver White Wash Additive I How To Use It
First of all, you need to decide how white is white enough for you. The main advantage with the new Chimiver White Wash Additive is that you can add more white additive if 1 bottle added to 5 L of floor lacquer is not white enough. If you are applying the mixture to an already whitish type of wooden surface, you will not see a lot of change but it will prevent the wood from becoming yellow over time. If you are adding the mixture to a very yellow old pine floor, then within two coats, the floor will be transformed.
-
Adding 1 bottle of the new Chimiver White Wash Additive to 5 L of Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Floor Lacquer and applying it to the wood surface in a two coats system will isolate the yellow and it will create a slight natural finish with a hint of a white wash.
-
Adding 2 bottles of the Chimiver White Wash Additive to 5 L of Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Floor Lacquer and applying it in a two-three coats system will create a rich white wash effect.
***Do not add the new Chimiver White Wash Additive to any other type of water based floor lacquer. Do not use the new Chimiver White Wash Additive on its own.***
Chimiver White Wash Additive I Recommendations
Do not add more than 2 bottles of the new Chimiver White Wash Additive per 5 L of floor lacquer. Do not use the mixture over floor oils or oil wood stains. Do not add the second bottle of the new Chimiver White Wash Additive unless you are not happy with the level of white wash effect.
