This is a clear water based wood floor primer with a twist. It is sold in a 6L package and it comes with a hardener. The product will enable the user to fully complete the refinishing process in 2 coats. It fully penetrates the wood, it repairs small scratches and rough patches, it seals the pores and it enables the user to achieve a “glass” like smooth finish. Start with the surface preparation. The new Chimiver EVOPRIME HS 120 | Clear Acrylic Two Pack Floor Primer is an impregnating primer and not an overcoating primer. To penetrate the wood and dry, it has to be applied to a surface that has no sealer or any old protector on it. If the surface looks damaged, sealed or stained, start by sanding it until all imperfections are removed and the wood looks raw.

1. Mix up the hardener with the wood primer. Add the hardener to the primer while stirring slowly. Do not just drop a blob of hardener on the top of the wood primer. The composition has to be mixed up nicely for the wood primer to work well.

2. Apply a thick coat around the edges first and then apply more on the larger floor area. Use a small varnishing brush for the edges and use a large varnishing roller for the larger surfaces. Remember, you will need to move along with the fiber of the wood and not against it. Do not follow the advice of some online blog or any social media platform. Applying the primer against the fiber of the wood will create a lot of visual imperfections and streaks.

3. Allow it to dry for about 2 hours. The drying periods could be way less or way longer, depending on the way you have applied it, depending on how well the surface was sanded and the room temperature. When the surface looks touch dry, then you can prepare for the next steps.

4. The floor has to be sanded one more time with fine grit sanding paper, vacuumed and then sealed. Because this particular wood floor primer is a two pack sealer with a hardener, it can be fully sealed with one coat of Chimiver Ecostar 2K or two coats of a single pack floor lacquer like Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Floor Lacquer.
