Things have changed dramatically over the past few years and the wood refinishing industry has changed as well. A number of years back most people were looking for high gloss finishes. Nowadays people are looking for pollution free products that look as natural as possible. The new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural ticks all the boxes and unlike other similar products, does not cost a fortune. A hardwood floor sealed with two coats of Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural looks like it was never sealed. The lacquer penetrates the wood in full and hardens up inside the wood. The new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural has outstanding anti-scratch resistance, high heel resistance and pet scratch resistance. A product that is unaffected by direct sunlight, harsh chemicals or extraordinary levels of daily traffic.

Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural | Where To Use It

A two pack water based floor lacquer compatible with all unsealed wood surfaces. It can be used without a primer or it can be applied over a wood stain. The product is food safe so it is compatible with all food preparation and food serving areas. The new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural is suitable for indoor use only. Use it to seal and protect wood floors, wood furniture, wood frames, wood doors, wood toys, wood handles, wood skirting & all other types of surfaces manufactured from real wood. To look the best, the product should be applied in a two coats system over a raw or unsealed wood surface.

Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural | How To Use It

Before even considering lacquering the wood surface, you should prepare the surface well. Any pre-existing sealer, any stain, dirty patch, etc, has to be removed in full with a sanding machine. Even brand new wood surfaces that have never been sealed have to be sanded with 100 grit sandpaper to reduce absorbency. When the surface seems spotless, dust free, dry and scratch free, you can prepare for lacquering.

Remember, the estimated coverage area is around 12 sq meters per 1 L so if you only have 10 sq meters to lacquer, do not mix up the whole bottle. Mix up 1L of floor lacquer with 100 ml of hardener. After the mixture is made, the lacquer will fully dry within 2 hours. So only mix up what you are likely to use within 2 hours.

1. Mix up the lacquer with the hardener in a bucket. Apply the hardener while stirring the composition

2. Use a fine quality microfiber flat mop head to scrub the floor one more time. Any excess dust that you manage to remove will really help you achieve that perfect smooth finish

3. Using a small varnishing brush start applying the lacquer around all the narrow spaces and all the edges. For the larger areas use a top quality varnishing roller. Remember to roll the lacquer moving along with the fiber of the wood and not against it.

4. About 2 hours later, re-sand the whole floor with 180 grit sanding paper to remove all lacquer excess and all the rough patches. Vacuum the floor well and prepare for applying the last coat.

5. Apply the last coat and do not walk on the floor for a few hours. No more than two coats are required.

If you are looking for a natural finish, then do not use a primer. Do not mix up more lacquer than you need for 1 coat. While the whole floor has to look wet, do not over soak it. Buy enough product to have enough for the whole job. Do not mix up a number of floor lacquers and do not mix up the new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural with hardeners from other brands of lacquers. Do not leave the bottle exposed to direct sunlight. Do not walk or re-sand the floor unless the previous coat is 100% dry. Work in a well ventilated area to speed up the drying process.
