Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer | Why Use It

Some floors are being used a lot. Others are not. Sealing a low or medium traffic wood floor with a commercial strength floor lacquer is a waste of money. This is the main reason that the new Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer was created. It works and is applied much the same as Bona Traffic HD but is a cheaper option. While Bona Traffic HD was created for high traffic commercial floors, the new Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer was created to seal and protect high traffic residential floors and medium traffic commercial floors. Its hardener makes it compatible with oil based wood stains and all water based floor primers from Bona.

Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer | Where To Use It

It can be used as the main lacquer for all residential wood floors, kids rooms, play rooms, living rooms, kitchen floors, halls, offices, reception areas and generally all wooden floors that are getting a moderate level of traffic. The product is also compatible with vertical wood surfaces, wood furniture, worktops, skirting boards and other wood surfaces. It can be applied over new or newly sanded wooden floors or it can be used as an overcoat over pre-existing finishes assuming that the right surface preparation is done. It dries very fast and it does not over-glaze the surface. The new Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer is unaffected by UV light, it has a superior resistance to harsh chemicals and it provides enhanced protection against scratches and pet nails.

Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer | How To Use It

Preparing the surface is the most important thing to do. It does not matter what type of water based floor lacquer you are using if the product is applied over a dirty, wet or greasy surface. The first step is to make sure that the primer or the stain is fully dry and the floor is ready for lacquering.

1. Mix the floor lacquer with the hardener and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes

2. Use a small varnishing brush to apply the floor lacquer around the edges

3. Use a quality varnishing brush to roll in the lacquer

4. Moving along with the fiber of the wood apply a thick coat of floor lacquer

5. Roll it all in to make sure that there are no puddles of lacquer on the wood

6. Allow it to dry for about 3 hours and then do one more fine sanding operation

7. Vacuum the whole floor and apply the second coat of floor lacquer

8. Job done

Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer | Recommendations

Remember, you need to mix the lacquer with the hardener before the lacquer is used. Do not mix up more lacquer than needed because from the moment of mixing you only have 4 hours to use the product. After 4 hours the product transforms from a liquid composition into a gel-like composition. Clean all your brushes and varnishing rollers with clean water. Any accidental touching should be removed immediately. Do not dilute the new Bona Wave 2K Water Based Floor Lacquer with any other type of floor lacquer from Bona or other brand. Do not walk on the surface until the floor looks 100% dry
