The Sheen Levels Available

The amazing Bona Mega Evo is one of those water based floor lacquers that will satisfy everyone. The product is available in a number of sheen levels for all types of projects. While 90% of the users are likely to go for a semi-gloss finish, some people might want more or less sheen.

Matt Finishes

The matt finish is highly popular with those looking for the finish of a floor oil but without having to deal with all the maintenance that comes with a floor oil. It fully seals the surface but the final finish has extremely low sheen levels. 

Semi Gloss

The semi gloss finish or the silk matt finish is by far the most popular finish. It has a decent level of sheen without looking artificial. The initial sheen level might dull up a bit after a few washes. The semi gloss finish is easy to clean and maintain.

Glossy

Some people love a glossy floor so the new Bona Mega Evo is there to help them out. The glossy finish has a good level of gloss but not as glossy as the old solvent based finishes used to be. It is very easy to maintain and refresh.

How To Use It The Spectacular Bona Mega Evo 

To maximise its qualities you should apply the new Bona Mega Evo directly on the bare wood. In some cases, the product can be used as an overcoat over pre-existing finishes but it is best if the lacquer reaches the real wood and it hardens up inside it. 

Sanding

Make sure that the surface is fully sanded and all the pre-existing finishes are fully removed before a new coat of floor lacquer is applied. Any imperfection or old patch missed will be made more visible after lacquering.

Cleaning

Vacuum the surface a number of times until even the finest grain of dust has been removed in full. All the fine dust that is missed, will end up creating a rough finish as the lacquer is drying and more work than needed will be required to achieve a smooth finish.

Lacquering

The lacquer is single pack and it does not require a hardener. The lacquer has to be applied with a small brush around the edges and a quality varnishing roller for the larger areas. The lacquer has to be applied while moving along with the fiber of the wood. The first coat has to be generous to fully impregnate the wood. The floor should be fully dried within 2 hours and then it should be re-sanded one more time with 180 grit sanding paper to remove all the rough patches. Then the final coat should be applied over a clean and vacuumed surface.
