Bona Soap Cleaner

If your wooden floors were sealed with a hardwax oil or some type of floor oil, you will need to pay attention to the daily maintenance routine. An oiled floor looks 100% natural and it is fully protected against humidity and general traffic. But it is essential to understand that your floor oil is manufactured from a blend of organic oils that can be sensitive and can wash away pretty easily. First of all you need to use a proper wood floor cleaning system while using as little water as possible and of course, the cleaning product used to maintain the oiled floor, has to be aggressive enough to remove the dirt but not too aggressive to remove the sealer from the floor.

90% of people who have oiled floors do not know how to properly maintain it. Your floor can look as new 5 years later or it can look old and tired within a few months. The secret is in the maintenance routine. Maintaining an oiled floor is not hard but you need to make the first step : to understand that your floor is oiled and it has to be cleaned with wood floor cleaning products suitable for oiled floors.

Bona Soap Cleaner – What is this product?

Bona Soap Cleaner is a neutral PH oiled floor cleaner and oiled floor maintainer. The product is highly concentrated, non acidic and 100% compatible with all oiled and waxed wooden floors, regardless of brand. Bona Soap Cleaner will safely remove impregnated dirt without negatively affecting the finish of the floor. Regular cleaning & maintenance with Bona Soap Cleaner will prevent staining, will enhance the finish of the floor and will increase the periods between recoating.

Bona Soap Cleaner – How do you use it?

Bona manufactures a number of oiled floor cleaning products suitable for all types of deep cleaning & light cleaning or maintenance of oiled floors. Some Bona oiled floor cleaners are ready to use, while others require dilution. Some of Bona`s oiled floor cleaners can be used with a flat mopping system while others have to be used with a standard mopping system. Bona Soap Cleaner is a product that has to be used with a standard mopping system. The product is highly concentrated so it requires dilution in warm water before use. There are many people that still prefer to clean their wooden floors with a cotton/microfiber/yarn mop head so Bona Soap Cleaner is the ideal solution for them.

Bona Soap Cleaner – Dilution

The dilution rate is informative only. You will decide yourself how much product to use per 10L bucket of water. If you are washing your floors daily or a number of times per day, you need to use very little product, so a dilution of 1 to 100 is perfect. If you are cleaning very dirty oiled floors once in a while, a lower dilution rate of 1 to 50 is required.

Dilution:

1 to 100 = 1 part product and 100 parts water

1 to 50 = 1 part product and 50 parts water

Bona Soap Cleaning – Wet cleaning

Obviously, using a lot of water on a wooden floor is not ideal. Your mop head has to be semi wet i.e. well wrung. Use a bucket with a squeezer or a wringer. Put the mop head into the cleaning solution and then wring it out until it is wet but the water is not dripping from it. Then wash the floor going along the fibre of the wood. When the mop head fails to wet the floor any longer, wet it again. Do not oversoak the floor, make sure the mop head is well wrung to avoid causing water damage to your floor.

Bona Soap Cleaner – Is this product suitable for commercial use?

Yes it is. You need to make the difference between heavy duty oiled floor cleaners and oiled floor maintainers. Bona Soap Cleaner is a daily oiled floor cleaner and maintainer. It can remove light grime and markings from floors. If you are planning to deep clean or maintain an oiled floor in a public area with more than average traffic, Bona Soap Oil is not the product for you. But for daily maintenance of residential oiled floors, office receptions, hotels, sport rooms, art galleries, etc, Bona Soap Cleaner will perform outstandingly.

Bona Soap Cleaner – Is this product expensive?

No it is not. 1L of Bona Soap Cleaner diluted will give you over 100 L of cleaning solution. More than enough to be able to maintain all your oiled floors for a few months. Bona Soap Cleaner is definitely much more cost effective than RTU / ready to use oiled floor cleaner where 1L of product cannot be diluted so it will only cover a small area. Bona Soap Cleaner has no perfume added so it is suitable for food preparation areas as well.

Bona Soap Cleaner – Regular use means that I do not need to refresh my oiled floors again?

No. If you are maintaining your oiled or waxed wooden floors with Bona Soap Cleaner it means that instead of having to refresh your oiled floors once every 6 months, you will need to do it once per year. Using heavy duty “universal” floor cleaners and degreasers will wash away the oil from the floor faster and you will need to refresh the floor more often. While using Bona Soap Cleaner is quite the opposite.

***all oiled floors require regular refreshing. The sealer on your oiled floor will wash away and fade away over time. Even areas with no traffic at all will require refreshing. The number of yearly refreshings will be decided by the amount of traffic, sunlight & the cleaning routine. But all oiled and waxed wooden floors have to be refreshed. We recommend Bona Wax Oil Refresher or Bona Spray Oil Refresher***

Innovative thinking and easy to use wood care products have transformed the Bona brand from a small Swedish brand into a worldwide highly respected brand.
